De gemakkelijkste weg levert vaak niet de sterkste inzichten op. Die overtuiging is de rode draad in het professionele leven van Katrien Bartholomeeusen. Over Katrien

Of ze nu werkt als manueel therapeut, coach, consultant of docent: altijd is de mens de kern van haar (be)handelen. Wat belemmert het herstel, de groei en wat veroorzaakt herval? Met 25 jaar ervaring als ondernemer en therapeut, een ijzersterk theoretisch fundament dat zij blijvend ontwikkelt, een breed arsenaal aan technieken en een open geest, is het voor Katrien een evidentie om creatief te zoeken naar het juiste antwoord voor de persoon of de groep die ze begeleidt. Katrien behandelt: werken aan de wervelkolom met helikopterview

Als manueel therapeut is Katrien Bartholomeeusen vertrouwd met de behandeling van zowel acute als complexe klachten van de wervelkolom, de rug, het bekken en de nek. Van hoofdpijn over artrose tot hernia, dus. Je bent welkom voor een second opinion als je al in behandeling bent bij een arts of kinesist, maar ook voor duidelijkheid over je diagnose of een duidelijke strategie om jouw klachten aan te pakken.

Katrien gaat bij een eerste consultatie, op basis van dertig jaar ervaring en een stevige theoretische achtergrond, met gerichte vragen op zoek naar de kern van de klachten. Vertrekkend met een helikopterview die geen pistes uitsluit, zoekt zij naar het dominante element in het verhaal van de patiënt. Zo komt ze met de patiënt tot een concrete “werk”diagnose. Waar nodig klopt ze aan bij haar grote netwerk aan specialisten.

Maatwerk

Soms leidt dat proces tot een ‘quick fix’. Er zijn patiënten die een – twee – drie keer langskomen en van hun klachten af zijn. Dat gebeurt ook met mensen die met hun klachten al jaren ergens anders gaan. Of sporters die ‘geblokkeerd’ zitten. Even welkom zijn mensen die gewoon graag tussendoor komen voor de specifieke aanpak van Katrien en voor hun klachten verder bij een kine in de buurt gaan. Of mensen die een keer per “seizoen” te komen voor een ‘groot onderhoud’. Hun hulpvraag is de norm voor zo fijn mogelijk maatwerk.

Maar omdat toveren in de zorg niet bestaat, zijn er ook veel mensen die hun symptomen lang meeslepen. Ook daar blijft bij Katrien de helikopterview cruciaal. Ze werkt niet met strakke kaders en gruwt van modehypes in therapie. Zij wil de persoon met langdurige klachten screenen en begrijpen. Zij luistert naar het verhaal van elke mens, observeert en onderzoekt. Hierbij gaat ze op zoek naar de dominante pijn, de voornaamste oorzaak en legt ze niet vanzelfsprekende verbanden.

Duurzaam herstel - Herval reduceren

Katrien Bartholomeeusen luistert tijdens de behandeling naar de patiënt en haar/zijn noden, want ze zweert bij flexibiliteit in haar aanpak. Ze gaat ook verder dan de symptoombestrijding op korte termijn. De patiënt is mogelijk al tevreden als er minder symptomen zijn. Maar voor Katrien is zo solide mogelijk herstel de norm. Ze wil dat patiënten zo weinig mogelijk hervallen. Daarom zoekt ze samen naar de factoren die dat duurzame herstel belemmeren en naar haalbare oplossingen voor elke specifieke patiënt. Daarbij wil ze de verandering de tijd geven om zich te verankeren, zodat de kans op herval kleiner wordt.

Of je nu een praktijk hebt als huisarts, arts-specialist, tandarts, kinesitherapeut, psycholoog of therapeut in andere disciplines binnen de zorg: je bent naast een deskundige zorgverstrekker ook een ondernemer én een mens. Katrien doceert: expertise delen

Als lesgever of keynote spreker is Katriens veelzijdigheid van grote meerwaarde. Als voormalig assistent aan verschillende universiteiten en docent bij diverse opleidingen, deelt zij haar expertise als manueel therapeut. Ook de thema’s vanuit de praktijk als coach en ondernemer zijn interessante stof voor lezingen of studiedagen. Haar norm is: toegankelijk, herkenbaar en instant toepasbaar in de praktijk.

Katrien Bartholomeeusen is een hoog opgeleid manueel therapeut. De basis van haar (be)handelen bouwde ze op een rijk palet aan opleidingen. Na haar studies licentiaat in de kinesitherapie volgde ze stage in Londen bij de toen baanbrekende Cyriax-methode. Ze combineerde een Specialisatie Manuele Therapie met een vierjarige postacademische opleiding in Nederland. Ze werkte en studeerde ook in Nieuw-Zeeland en in het VK. Daarna voltooide ze ook nog een Master-na-Master in de Sportkinesitherapie. Verder is zij erkend professioneel gecertificeerd coach en erkend bemiddelaar in ondernemingszaken. Eigen concept manuele therapie

Het is één van de roepingen van Katrien om die rijkdom aan kennis zo goed mogelijk te delen. Katrien was onder meer docent binnen de opleidingen manuele therapie aan de KULeuven, de SOMT Amersfoort en aan de UGent. Ze is freelance beschikbaar voor bijscholingen en lezingen in het vakgebied musculoskeletale kinesitherapie. De norm daarbij is relevantie, bruikbaarheid en toegankelijkheid van de gebrachte inhoud. De mix van brede kennis en haar sterke hands-on praktijkervaring leidde tot een soort eigen concept rond manuele therapie als specialisatie in de kinesitherapie. Daarbij wordt naar de kern van de problematiek van de patiënt gezocht en gehandeld.

Ondernemers

Met evenveel passie verzorgt Katrien Bartholomeeusen bijscholingen voor professionals en/of vrije beroepers in de zorg. Professionaliteit in de zorg is veel meer dan medische kennis en technische expertise aanbieden. Zorgverstrekkers zijn ook vaak ondernemers met een zakelijk model. Het zijn ook mensen met emoties, twijfels en bezorgdheden. Het zijn professionals die leven onder permanente druk van patiënten én zorginstellingen. Ook ondernemers buiten de zorg kunnen veel leren van de expertise van Katrien en de zorgsector.

Maatwerk

Vertrekkend vanuit 30 jaar praktijk als zorgondernemer durft Katrien Bartholomeeusen over elk van die thema's haar inzichten en ervaringen delen. Er liggen geen kant en klare lezingen of keynotes in de schuif. Elke vraag om haar inzichten wordt beantwoord op basis van de vragen en noden van de organisatoren en de groep.Tijdens elke lezing of cursus, is flexibiliteit de norm. Katrien wil dat de deelnemers met nieuwe inzichten vertrekken en het gevoel dat ze gesterkt zijn in hun professioneel functioneren.
